Annie McClendon

Annie Pearl Cole McClendon (Pansy) was born June 17, 1936 in Louise, Mississippi, as she would say, by way of Yazoo City, to the proud and loving parents Mae Atrice and Clark Cole Sr. She was the oldest of sixteen siblings. Annie attended Humphrey County Training Center in Louise, MS. She later left Louise, MS in 1955 and moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois. She then met and married Jimmy Louis McClendon on September 28, 1956, and to this union, they raised 10 children and two adopted grandchildren. On January 21, 1961, Annie Pearl made one of the most important decisions of her life by making a personal dedication to Jehovah God and symbolized her dedication by water baptism. Annie possessed a strong work ethic and was employed throughout her working years, along with her role as a mother and homemaker. Annie retired from Park Forest School District 163 as a Custodian. Annie later went back to work for a few years at Ingalls Hospital as a healthcare provider. Annie was known for her beautiful smile and kindness. Her compassionate and caring attitude was cherished by all those she encountered. Annie was a faithful servant of Jehovah for over 60 years. She enjoyed the ministry and teaching others about her loving father Jehovah and his wonderful promises for the future particularly the resurrection hope. Annie slowly succumbed to the devastating affects of Alzheimer’s disease. On February 8, 2021, Annie fell asleep in death. She is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Louis McClendon; her parents Clark and Mae Atrice Cole; three sisters Rose Mae, Earlene, and Deritha; six brothers Johnathan, Lee, Samuel, Charles, J.C., and Earnest; and two grandchildren Kye and Jessie J. McClendon. Annie leaves to cherish her memory, six daughters Irene, Sharon (Johnny), Charmaine, Janice (Antione), Octavia, and Jameca; six sons Jimmie Jr. (Azie), Earl (Angel), Earnest, Timothy (Gwendolyn), Edward (Juwan) and Collin; six sisters Dorothy (Nathan) McCorkle, Helen (Jason) Snoddy, Edna Johnson, Lorraine, Mae, and Betty (Darryl) Bell, one brother Clark Cole Jr.; one aunt Ida Mae Broomfield; 35 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
