Rev. Beverly Joyce Fields

Reverend Beverly Joyce Fields was born to John Robert and Louise Patten on February 22, 1951. Beverly accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1985. Shortly, thereafter, she married her best friend, Jerome, whom she devoted herself to for twenty-two wonderful years. In 1998, she said yes to the Lord’s calling and began her ministry. As an ordained minister, Rev. Beverly became president and founder of “Open to God’s Call Ministries”. The ministry provided Sunday Praise and Worship services, neighborhood outreach, breakfast and luncheon seminars, and Christian fellowship. Although, Beverly had to go on sabbatical she still got her message out through radio ministry. She spoke over the air to the public every first Wednesday and second Thursday of each month through the Christian station WYCA 102.3 FM. As a young adult, Beverly was passionate about education. She loved to learn. In 2004, she attended Westwood College where she earned her Associates Degree in Graphic Design. Beverly then pursued her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Radiation Therapy Technology. She was high-spirited and enjoyed staying active, running, working puzzles, sitting on the porch, and spending time with her family. She was always snacking on Turtle Chex Mix and drinking her favorite beverage “Pepsi” that she had to have ice cold. Beverly was honest, kind hearted, caring, self-sacrificing, and giving. She was a true inspiration to all. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt. She was a strong, beautiful, amazing woman. On February 21, 2013, after having fought a good fight, finished her course and kept the faith, Beverly closed her eyes in death. Her family looks forward to the fulfillment of Isaiah 25:8, where the Lord will swallow up death and wipe away all tears. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Patten. Rev. Beverly Joyce Fields leaves to celebrate her life, her husband, Jerome; her children: Tonia (Paul) Stigger, Dora (David) Lee, Christine Chew and Momey Dabner; four sisters: Vivian Wilson, Patricia (James) Hoskins, Denise Danner and Ethel Davis; four brothers: John, Daniel, Anthony and Kenneth; eighteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs: Pigney, Penelope, Bear, She-She and CoCo. Beverly will be deeply missed by all; she will forever be in our hearts.
