Edith Smith

Edith Smith was born on October 5, 1959 in Forrest City, Arkansas to the union of Robert and Earthine Wright. Edith was one of seven children. Edith attended George M. Pullman Grammar School where she first met Robby, her sweetheart, who later became her husband and the love of her life. She attended and graduated from Percy L. Julian High School. After graduation she started working for Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she worked for 20 years. She received Employee of the Month several times during her working career, but due to illness she later retired. After a careful study of God's word the Bible, Edith dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized her dedication through water baptism on December 15, 1979. Over the years, Edith's relationship with Jehovah grew stronger and she worked hard to reflect that by the way she lived and how she treated others. Her meetings and her ministry were a priority in her life. She looked for opportunities on every occasion to give a witness, whether she was on vacation, on her job, with her doctors and her relatives. Though she was not a pioneer, she truly had a pioneer spirit. On June 20, 1981, Edith and Robby were united in sacred matrimony and went on to enjoy soon to be 35 years of loyal precious years together. To this union two children were born, Reginald and Romel. Edith was everyone's favorite. She was a loving sister, mother and friend. She was a self-sacrificing and precious mother always putting the interest of her family ahead of her own. On many days and nights, although she was not feeling well you could not tell because she did not complain but understood that others were worse off then her. On January 1, 2016, after maintaining her integrity, Edith fell asleep in death and now remains in Jehovah's memory. (Matt 22:31, 32). She was preceded in death by her mother, Earthine. Edith leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Robby; her father, Robert; her children, Reginald (Janea), Romel (Sydne); her grandson, Roman; her siblings, Robin, Dexter (Maria), Ralph (LaShon), Wilfred (Jocelyne), Gilbert (Janice), DeeDee and her additional sister, Juanita (Paul); sister-in-law, Donna (Lander); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
