Joyce Nettles

Joyce Nettles, the second oldest of eight children was born on January 4, 1950 to Clifford and Daisy Bryant in Gideon, Missouri. In her youth, she enjoyed jumping rope, badminton, baseball, basketball, and playing cards, especially Probe. In her teen to adolescent years, she attended Cottage Grove, Bloom Trail and Bloom Township in the late 1960’s. During that time, she bonded with James L. Nettles, in which they were soon married on August 8, 1969 in Kankakee, Illinois. They had a daughter and two sons Annette, James Jr. and Isaac. Jehovah God saw the traits that Joyce had throughout her life of calmness, mildness and lowly in heart, humility, hospitality and so many more that she expressed to many (Matthew 11:29). Jehovah helped Joyce draw ever near to him, in which she was baptized in 1970. Later in life, she would teach her children and grandchildren her love, numerous qualities and love for the preaching work. With her beautiful traits, she worked in nursing, glassmaking and housekeeping. She was an amazing cook of great recipes of potato salad, turkey and dressing, pies, cheesecakes and more. She loved God’s creation, especially flowers of peonies, tulips and roses. With a continuous smile on her face and warm words, she was always genuine, helping many and gave comfort to all. She was loved dearly and will be truly missed (Gal 5:22; John 5:28, 29). On July 18, 2020, Joyce fell asleep in death surrounded by family. Her family and friends look forward to welcoming her back to paradise earth, where no resident is sick. Her infinite smile and mildness will be present. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Bernard Bryant, her brother-in-law Walter Ward Sr., her brother-in-law Patrick DeBow Sr., and her father Clifford Bryant Sr. Loved and as the “Photographer in the Family”, she leaves many photos and memories by her husband James L. Nettles Sr., her children Annette (Bradford), James Jr. (Anne) and Issac (Hannah); her grandchildren Tamara, Derrick, Deidra, and Isaac Jr.; her mother Daisy Bryant; siblings Lorraine (Patrick Sr.), Clifford Jr. (Ella), Betty (Walter Sr.), Shirley (Arthur Sr.), Janice (James Sr.), Kathy (Norman Sr.), and Bernard (Jacqie); and a host of relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
