Luke Boyd, Jr.

Luke Boyd Jr. was born August 15, 1966 at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, Illinois to the union of Elizabeth and Luke Boyde Sr. Luke graduated from Bloom Trail High School and went on to attend DeVry School of Technology. He worked for Meridian Rail/ABC Rail for 16 years, they were later bought out by Nortrak whereby he continued to work for another 9 years. He was a certified CNC Milling specialist. Luke Boyd Jr. was well known for his strong personality and characteristics. He had strength in all aspects: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. He deeply believed in God and stayed true to himself as a man, a son, a brother, and a father. He did things his own way and never wanted to follow others. He will always be remembered by his sense of humor and his everlasting love for his family. Everyone considered him as the protector of the family and was always willing to lend a hand for anything. His sense of humor was unrivaled from his laugh to his jokes and even his catch phrases. Some of his phrases were: “Gotta get a cold one” which means time for a beer; “It’s all gravy” which means it’s all good;“Peel yo cap” which means I am going to beat you up; “Scrapping the bumper” which means time to go; “Sap” which means weak; “40 going north” the family still can’t figure out what this one meant; “Booboo tanning for eating those apples” which means a child just got a whooping; and there were many more phrases that he created but they all will be engraved in our hearts and memories. Though Luke was married twice in his lifetime and had 2 biological children, he also shared his life with many other children who considered him to be a stern father figure. Luke loved testing his critical thinking skills, cooking and baking, and sports. He was a huge Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Bears fan. He always felt the need to work hard no matter what it was and always had some project to work on every day. He loved his children deeply and was always proud of them. Luke Boyd Jr., well known by friends and family as “Pookie”, will be forever missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Luke Boyde Sr. (2004) and two brothers, Kevin Boyde (1996) and Gary Boyde (2007). Luke Boyd Jr. leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Luke Boyd III; his daughter, Shelah Nicole Boyd; and his step-daughter, Sheryl McFarland; his mother, Elizabeth Boyde; brothers: Henry Kennedy (Paula) and Sean Boyde; sisters: Sharon Boyde-Adams (Reginald), Donna Boyde-Harris (Gerald), Debby Anchondo (Edwin), Andrea Boyde-Ale (Bode) and Stephanie Boyde-Elam (Mandale); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
