Patricia Jean Latham

Patricia Jean Latham was born to the union of Lupe V. Washington and John E. Washington on July 7, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. Patricia grew up in East Chicago Heights, IL, where she attended School District 169 and completed her elementary education. She then completed her high school diploma from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, IL. At an early age, Patricia professed Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized by the Rev. Theodore McMillian. She was a lifelong member at First Union Missionary Baptist Church. She served on many auxiliaries at First Union such as the Nurses Aide Board, Pastors Aide Board, Women's Day Chairperson and a member of First Union's Trustee Board to name a few. On December 12, 1970, Patricia married Johnny Albert Latham Sr. To this union six children were born. In the early 1990s, Patricia attended Prairie State College where she obtained a certificate in Early Childhood Education. From there she began her professional career as a Childcare Teacher. She truly enjoyed working with children and rearing them in a positive manner. Patricia took pride in being a mother figure not just to her children, but to many of the children in the neighborhood. On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, surrounded by family and love ones, Patricia left her earthly home to receive her crown in Glory. She is preceded in death by her parents; Lupe V. and John E. Washington; and mother-in-law, Mildred E. Lang; and daughter, Monica M. Latham. Patricia leaves to treasure her memories her husband of 46 years, Johnny A. Latham Sr.; four brothers, Roderick (Darlene) Crim, Gregory (JoAnn) Washington, Carl Michael (Marian) Washington and Alexis (Cynthia) Washington; two sisters, Jerrie Jackson and Annette Harris; five children, LaSanda (Henry) Bentley, Jennifer E. Latham, Johnny Albert (Cordia) Latham Jr., Joyce (Damien) Richardson and Lydia (Malik) Shabazz; twenty six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four godchildren, Lunya Jenkins, Alexis McMillian, Forrest Hall Jr. and NeTanya Johnson; special friends, Patricia Jones and Patricia King; and a host of other relatives and friends.
