Phillip C. Phifer

Phillip Christopher Phifer was born November 8, 1951. He was the oldest son of nine children born to the union of Freeman and Irma Phifer. Phillip received his formal education from Lindblom Technical High School, graduating in 1969. After a careful study of God's word the Bible, Phillip dedicated his life to Jehovah. At the early age of 16, Phillip symbolized his dedication to Jehovah through water baptism on November 25, 1967, becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses. At the age of 21, Phillip was appointed as one of the youngest Elders in his Circuit. Over his many years of loyal service to Jehovah, he served as an Elder and also had the privilege of serving as a Regular Pioneer. He loved the field ministry and talking about the truth of God to others. On April 20, 1974, Phillip united in wedlock with Melba Miller. To this loving union one son and two daughters were born. As the patriarch of the family, he will be missed as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Phillip worked hard to support his family and his congregation. You could always count on him for good advice, support, encouragement and for being the voice of reason. Phillip enjoyed having a good time and you could always count on him for a laugh. The positive energy and vibe he had was contagious. Some the many things Phillip enjoyed was listening to a variety of music, reading a good book, going to the movie theater, savoring a good meal, as well as traveling and being a distinct card player of Bid Whist. On November 5, 2014, Phillip fell asleep in death. He was preceded in death by his father, Freeman Phifer. Phillip leaves to cherish his memory, his dearly beloved wife of 40 years, Melba Phifer; three children, Jared Phifer (Sandy), Stacy Phifer and Shannon Phifer; his mother, Irma Phifer; eleven siblings, Deborah Phifer, Penelope Williams (Clifford), Freeman Phifer Jr., Richard Phifer, Robert Phifer (LaDonna), Peggy Moore (Gary), Kyle Phifer, Keturah Phifer, Joanne Freeman, Michael Phifer (Andrea) and Greg Franklin; four grandchildren, Jasmine Phifer, Joshua Phifer, Israel Phifer and Christopher Loggins; a very close lifetime friend John Washington and especially the Miller Family; 11 nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews; 5 great-great nieces and nephews; a host of cousins and friends.
