Mr Tommy McKennie

Tommy McKennie, known by family as “TJ” was born Tuesday, February 1, 1938 to Almiria Burrell and Percy (Peck) McKennie in Beltzer, Mississippi. Raised in Maywood, Illinois from age 2 to adulthood, educated at Washington Grade school and Provision East High School. Tommy worked at various companies as a young man, including Jefferson Electric, Alcoa Aluminum, Chicago West Town Bus company, Great Lakes Janitorial, moving to the southern suburbs he worked at Allis Chalmers, Harvey, Illinois. Howe Development Center, Tinley Park, Illinois retiring from Trinity services in Joliet, Illinois. After a study with Jehovah’s Witnesses , Tommy dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized in June of 1969. He served as a Ministerial servant until his death, working hard at his parts for the meeting. He met Omelia Villery in 1978, they were married for over 40 years, he proved to be a wonderful dedicated husband and father. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching others the Truth found in the Bible. Although he hated flying, he enjoyed vacations in Texas, with his extended family and really enjoyed the hospitality and Creole food, He enjoyed playing cards with great grandchild, Kennedy who always won, of course, because each time she lost a hand, she’d change the rules of the game in her favor. He also enjoyed playing Jeopardy with his wife every day On March 31, 2023 , surrounded by his loving family, Tommy McKennie, fell asleep in death. He was preceded in death by both his parents , his sisters Bernice, Margaret, and Stella, his daughter Jolene ad his dear spiritual brother Edison Moseley. He preceded his son Jebreel McKennie in death. Tommy will be forever remember by his wife Omelia, children Linda, Dawn, Vickie, and step daughter Leilani, his sister Mary Louise, his grandchildren Blair, Brooke, Ben, Mateo, Antonio, Breelyn, Amena, Gabriella his great grandchildren, Kennedy,Jorie, and Jaylee Crawford and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favorite color was blue. He was grateful for all of his spiritual brothers and sisters in the Chicago Heights Central Congregation, and the ones he worked with often in field service, Brother Robert Martin and Brothers Dwayne Brown and also Rodney Shaw, whom he met at work and aided in studying the Bible.
