Ahmed Nickerson

Ahmed Nickerson was born on November 21, 1976 to the union of Garland Nickerson and Eleaora Nickerson (Davis) in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second child born to this year. Ahmed graduated from Crete – Monee High School and attended Chicago State University pursuing a degree in Engineering. A devoted and loving brother, cousin, nephew and friend, he was dependable, unselfish, compassionate, considerate, thoughtful and comforting. He had a heart of gold. His love and compassion for others was evident with his welcoming smile and open arms. Ahmed touched those around him with his infectious laugh, his great sense of humor and his love for the arts. His favorite pastimes were many, watching sports, coaching basketball, creating inspirational and thought-provoking art, making amazing and eclectic cuisine, listening to all genres of music (especially Hip-Hop and House), going to concerts and have in-depth intellectual conversations about Star Wars. Being the middle child, Ahmed was the glue that held the Nickerson kids together. Ayana, Ahmed and Amon have an unbreakable bond. Music, food, conversation, love and laughs and a good time was guaranteed when the three of them were together. Their sibling love is the TRUTH and shines brightly. It creates a supportive and loving place, not only for them, but for all their friends and family. Ahmed was interested in all his friends. He was a great listener and empathetic soul. A confidant and a counselor. He was always available and ready to be a rock for all those who loved him. Ahmed was an accomplished artist. His art was featured in a renowned art gallery in Odin Hill, Maryland. He spent his career helping others as an admissions counselor, education coordinator and program manager supervisor. Ahmed was an exceptional man who touched us all, and leaves a legacy of love to those who knew him. He was a "gentle-giant", his mother's teddy bear, a humble man, and a man with strength and courage with the no measure. On May 22, 2017, Ahmed fell asleep in death at the age of 40. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Garland and Eleanora Nickerson. Many will cherish his memories including his brother and sister, Amon and Ayana; his cousins, Ako (Robert) Williams and Sean Thomas; his uncles, Patrick Nickerson and Charles Sneed; his aunts, Patricia, Phreada, Lynda and Camille; and a host of other family members, a bunch of cousins and a whole "lotta" really good friends.
