Alvita McFee

Alvita Marshall was born April 25, 1954, the first born of four to the union of Alvin and Juanita Marshall. She received her formal education in the Chicago public school system graduating from Calumet High School. She furthered her education and she attended Roosevelt University obtaining her Associate Degree in Hotel Restaurant Management and Hospitality. Her desire for education led her to continue at Roosevelt University, where she was a mere 13 credits from obtaining her goal of having a Bachelor's Degree. Alvita married Steve C. Motley and their union was blessed with two children, Steven and Jermaine. She loved being a mom and always put her family first. The children in the family knew that Alvita loved them, nieces and nephews were treated more like "her children". Her love of her family knew no bounds she was the Matriarch who everyone loved and enjoyed being close to. Alvita embraced her Christian faith at an early age and was truly committed to serving God. She was active in her faith attending Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church where she participated in various auxiliaries such as the Sylvia Boddie Youth Choir, Young Adult Choir, Radio Choir and Prayer Band. She later joined Trinity United Church of Christ where she loved attending Sunday School and watching the praise dancers perform. Traveling and taking pictures were only two of the many things she enjoyed doing in her free time. Alvita believed that hard work was its own reward. She worked diligently at everything she did including her secular employment whether it be her years in the banking industry or her true love, Hospitality Management. On Saturday, March 22, 2014, Alvita McFee closed her eyes and went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Juanita. Alvita leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Steven aka Stevie and Jermaine; three brothers, Alvin, Kevin and Derek (Tracey); one grandson, Jeremiah; three nieces, Carla (Jason), Tiffany and Teira (Lyndon); Goddaughter, Tajuanna Conley; and a host of relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
