Anthony L. Slaughter

Anthony L. Slaughter was born to the union of Leroy and Mary Slaughter on January 28, 1961. Tony attended Grammar School in the Chicago area and graduated from Jones Commercial High School as an honor student. He retired from AT & T Phone Company after 30 years of service in 2011. At the age of 14, Tony dedicated his life to Jehovah God and symbolized it by water baptism on April 5, 1975. He united in marriage with the love of his life, Robin Wright on July 24, 1982. They served Jehovah as a happy married couple until his death for 33 wonderful years. His special privileges of services included being a Regular Pioneer, Substitute Circuit Assembly Overseer and Congregation Overseer at the Lake Calumet Congregation. Tony also had the pleasure of being one of the Instructors for the Kingdom Ministry School for Elders and Pioneer Service School. He had the privilege of directing many Bible dramas at the conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses. He serviced many congregations in the Chicagoland area, south suburbs, Indiana and Elgin as a Substitute Overseer from 1997 until 2015 and as an Elder to multiple congregations and circuits from 1990 until 2015. As a Shepherd, Tony loved feeding and caring for Jehovah's sheep both spiritually and physically, young and mature. He always said "Jehovah has been more than generous in giving him assignments to service him." Anthony Slaughter leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Robin; one brother Kenneth T. Slaughter; an uncle, Corneille Porter (Delores); his father-in-law, Robert Wright; four sisters-in-law, Edith Smith (Robby), Vera Dabney (Robert), Juanita Sander (Paul) and Rosetta Lyons; four brothers-in-law, Dexter Wright (Marie), Ralph Wright (LaShon), Wilfred Wright (Jocelyn) and Gilbert Wright (Janice); an aunt, Vera Carter; spiritual brother, John Washington (Iris); spiritual sister, Christina Thompson (Sydney); his nieces, Meisha, Camille and Ashley, "daughters", Kyara, Kaitlyn, Megan Morgan, Brooke (David), Shaelyn, Deja and Destinee; his nephews, Kelvin, Robert and Jordan, "sons", Reginald (Janea), Romel (Sydney), Chase, Justin, Gilbert Jr., Brandon, Christian, Kyler, Marc, Thomas, Johnny Morgan and Matthew; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews, spiritual fathers and mothers, other relatives and friends.
