Bobria "Barbara" Lewis

On November 4, 1938 in Love, Mississippi, DeSoto County, a baby girl was born to the union of Moody Williams Sr. and Daisy (Thompson) Williams. They named her Bobria and she was one of seven children that completed this family. When Bobria was about 4 years old, the family moved to Detroit, Michigan. As a young girl in school, Bobria, as she was named by her parents, received the new name of "Barbara" by one of her teachers. This was the name that stuck over the years to which many know her by even today, without knowing the history behind the name. Barbara met Plumer Eugene Lewis "Gene" and on November 4, 1961 the two united in holy matrimony. They began their family and raised their children in Park Forest, Illinois. Being quite the seamstress, Barbara made her own wedding dress and many other fine garments over the years. Barbara worked as a Mental Health Technician at the Tinley Park Mental Health Center. After the loss of their first born son, Barbara and Gene searched for the truth and found Jehovah God. She dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized her dedication through water baptism on February 15, 1969. Barbara shared the good news with others. She enjoyed aiding other family members and friends to learn about Jehovah and to dedicate their lives to him. She had the hope that Jehovah would remember her in the resurrection. Barbara served Jehovah for 43 years and remained faithful until the end. Through the years, Barbara's friends knew her to have many hobbies such as sewing, skating, making jewelry, video and photographing special occasions for her friends. She took special delight when asked to be the official photographer for the renovation of the Richton Park Kingdom Hall. During which time she met many, many friends and formed a special bond with most of them. On Friday, February 1, 2013, Barbara fell asleep in death at Ingall's Hospital. She was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony and Antoine; one daughter, Ariane; two sisters, Lela Mae Williams Lewis and Madge Williams; and four brothers, Bonzell, Moody Jr., Alphonso and Murray Williams. Barbara leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband of over 50 years, Plumer E. Lewis; her son Andre (wife LaTonia) Lewis and eight step grandchildren; her daughter Andrea (husband Bryan) House and three grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan and Jonathan; and her daughter Audrey (husband Sean) Morton and two grandchildren, Armani and Amari; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
