Deborah Maria Phifer

Deborah Maria Phifer was born August 8, 1950. She was the firstborn of nine children born to the union of Freeman and Irma Phifer. Deborah attended George Washington Carver High School. Deborah was united in wedlock to Lamar Chapman in 1972 and to this union one daughter and one son was born. She later met and married Jerry Ticey in 1984. Deborah symbolized her dedication to Jehovah on April 20, 2008 becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was proud to defend her belief about the truth of God's word and took joy in attending and participating in the congregation meetings. As the oldest child, Deborah had a dominate yet fun-loving personality. Deborah loved having a good time and was known for contributing to being the life of the party. She also had many hobbies and was very creative and possessed many artistic skills. Shopping with Deborah was a fun and educational experience as she enjoyed the history and industry of fashion and jewelry. She is also known for being well dressed and coordinated. She had a great sense of humor and was known for always making a wisecrack. She had a laugh that was unforgettable. Deborah also was compassionate and supportive, visiting with and assisting others who were sick. Our dearly beloved Deborah will be missed as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Deborah fell asleep in death on December 24, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, Freeman Phifer; her brother, Phillip Phifer; and her husbands. Deborah leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Latonia Phifer, Selina Phifer, Pamela Chapman and Lamar Chapman IV; her mother, Irma Phifer; ten siblings, Penelope Williams (Clifford), Freeman Phifer III, Richard Phifer, Robert Phifer (LaDonna), Peggy Moore (Gary), Kyle Phifer, Keturah Phifer, Joanne Freeman, Michael Phifer (Andrea), Greg Franklin (Maxine); sister-in-law, Melba Phifer; eight grandchildren, Sunseurai Johnson, Latasha Clay, Vakeesta Phifer, Dancey Phifer, Devin Smith, Denise Swift, DeShaun Chapman and Kiara Chapman; six great grandchildren, Raheem Johnson, Khalise James, Gabriel Gousman, Khalil Davis, MaShawn Williams Jr. and Maeyell Janae Johnson; ten nieces and nephews; eight great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
