Ellen Robinson

Ellen Robinson was born on March 12, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Sweet Cathy and Cruz Cathy. She was a graduate of Wendell Phillips High School in 1946. She married Milton Robinson in June of 1948, and gave birth to four children: Delphine Nowling, Joyce Robinson Bellamy, Virgil Robinson and Patricia Robinson, the youngest. Ellen, also had two stepsons Milton Robinson Jr. and Andre Harris. Ellen loved education and law. Ellen loved to engage in political events, news, and fight for those who were wrongfully misused. She enjoyed watching her informative TV programs. Wheel of Fortune was her favorite show. Ellen was a woman who could spell words backwards, talk to anyone on any level and connect with the younger generation. Ellen was a woman of integrity, strength, fun loving, and full of love. Her calling was to do work for the Lord Almighty through evangelistic work, praying, and helping those who were in need, lost, or those who just needed a kind word. Ellen opened her home to anyone who called on her. She never refused anyone. Ellen's church home was Sweet Holy Spirit located at 8621 South Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL, Bishop Larry D. Trotter. Ellen was a woman who was energetic, feisty, and fun loving. She loved beautiful and bold colors. One of her sensitive passions was women who were abused. She advocated for women to be stronger, stand in their truth and to have a voice. Ellen was a praying warrior who battled against the odds. Before her going home to the Lord Almighty, Ellen was a part of a documentary that was created 4 years ago by the works of Ms. Anderson. Ms. Anderson would come to her home over a period of 4 years to document grandma’s life. The documentary was on Grandparents raising Grandchildren. The documentary was completed on August 14, 2018 and was shown at the Gene Siskel Film Center. The title of the documentary was named “The G Force”. Ellen was a woman of greatness and will be truly missed. Her legacy lives on forever in our hearts. Ellen Robinson, age 89 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Trinity Advocate Hospital in Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by husband Milton Robinson; daughter Joyce Bellamy; stepson Milton Robinson Jr.; and grandson Aaron. She leaves behind children Delphine Nowling, Virgil Robinson and Patricia Robinson, the youngest. Ellen; stepson Andre Harris; grandchildren Scott, Donna (Eddie), Deidra, Brian, Louis, Toby, Monica, Patrick, Coty Jr.; great grandchildren, baby Ava, Brianna, Deairrah, Sauli, Malik, Lakerra, Desiree and many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews, and a favorite cousin Gloria from Texas. She had a special place in her heart for loving nieces Sandra Herron and Janet Stone. She had a special love for god grandson Denny Perdue, and his mother Mrs. Perdue. A host of special friends and prayer partners, she was truly loved.
