Endie Hammond

Endie Hammond was born January 23, 1939 in Harvest, Alabama to the union of Herbert and Mary Kate Robinson. She was the oldest of 10 children, 6 girls and 4 boys. Endie’s family relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she received her formal education graduating from Hyde Park Academy High School. On May 21, 1960, Endie united in marriage with Gerald Hammond, their union was blessed with four children were born, Terry aka “Booney”, the twins Vittorio aka “Suggie” and Angelina aka “Ditt” and Valentina. Endie was a capable mother and worked hard in and out of the home to help provide for her family. She worked as a waitress, laundry attendant and home health aide, just to name a few of her jobs. Endie’s love of God lead her to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and later to dedicate her life to Jehovah God and symbolized her dedication through water baptism. She enjoyed going out in service and considered her building her personal territory. She loved her God Jehovah and lived Hebrews 10:24-25, always being present at the meetings either in person or the telephone hook-up, Her kindness was shown even in her hobbies of sewing, baking and gardening. She was always caring for others. On February 22, 2014, Endie Hammond, fell asleep in death. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kate Robinson; baby daughter, Valentina who succumbed to crib death; and three siblings, Willie Jean Robinson aka “Bum”, Michael Robinson aka “Sam Jones” and Johnny Robinson. Endie Hammond was a good woman who was deeply loved by her family and her congregation, but especially her beloved children, Terry, Vittorio (wife Sandra) and Angelina; seven grandchildren, DeAunna, Asia, Tamika, Rosie, Terrence and the twin girls Chenelle and Chanice; three great grandchildren, Allyiah, Antonio and Hayden; her 94 year old father, Herbert Robinson Sr.; four sisters, Dorothy Adkins, Marlene Robinson aka “Goo-Goo”, Cindy Montgomery and Cherie Cook aka “Kiki”; two brothers, Herbert Robinson Jr. aka “Main” and Tommy Robinson aka “Tracy”; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
