Mr. Erik Saxson

Erik Lawrence Saxon was born on December 12, 1977, in Portchester, New York, to Ernest Robert Saxon and Belinda Yvonne Saxon (Stevens). Erik died March 16, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Ernest and Rebecca Saxon of Portchester, NY, Ray and Viola Stevens of Chicago, IL, Uncles Larry Saxon of Baltimore, MD, Michael Stevens and Chris Stevens both of Chicago, IL. As an active youth Erik was full of energy. You could find him climbing trees, practicing gymnastics, or leading the way on adventures with family and friends. Erik’s drive for excellence shown by his consistent awards achieved in Gymnastics with the traveling competitive squad of Polly’s School of Gymnastics in Stratford, CT. This training prepared Erik to becoming a Junior Gymnastics Trainer. Later solidifying his place on the Jessie White Tumbling Team in Chicago, IL. Erik embraced life and appreciated the beauty within. His love of music, art, and history gave him a unique insight on the world around him. Erik spent countless hours playing the trumpet and becoming a self-taught pianist playing notes from ear. From an early age, Erik knew his greatest passion in life was learning and self-development. Erik attended Bullard Havens High School in Bridgeport, CT, where he won first place in the Annual Hair Competition his sophomore year. Erik then transferred to Indian River High School in Chesapeake, VA, where he obtained his Cosmetology license and graduated early his Junior year, Class of 1995. Erik’s courageous spirit never limited him to where he could go in life. His drive for adventure led Erik on expeditions all around the world. During the summers of 2011, 2012, and 2013, Erik was selected to participate in the Agora Excavations in Athens. These life changing experiences he loved to talk about with everyone. Erik’s proudest moments were on May 10, 2013 when he graduated and received his Baccalaureate of Arts and Science Degree in Classical Civilization, Minor in Anthropology. Followed by a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Classical Studies in 2015. His Journey’s Just Began Don’t think of him as gone away his journey just Began- Author Ellen Brenneman Erik lived his life in service of others assisting all on their travels and journeys. Erik was a resolute worker in the hospitality industry in the heart of Chicago. Erik held various positions ranging from Guest Service Agent, Front Desk Agent, and Night Auditor for world-class hotels. Erik Lawrence Saxon will be remembered by, his Father Ernest Saxon and Wife, Mother Belinda Saxon (Stevens), Sisters- Cassandra (Casey) Saxon and Krystle Townsend (Saxon), Brother- Sean Saxon, Nieces- Kaya, Jami (Mea), and Makenzie, Nephews- Paradise (Parry) and James. Along with a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and Friends.
