Eunice Allen

Eunice V. Allen was born on February 3, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee to Willie and Addie Starks. Eunice received her formal education in Memphis. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois to better their lives when Eunice was a young girl. Eunice accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young woman. She could always be found at her church St. Samuel Temple Church of God in Christ where she was a participant in Bible study over the phone and a mother of the church. Eunice loved reading her Bible and having her house filled with the spirit of the Lord through her listening to gospel music. She was a God fearing woman whose advice always included God will work it out. She was known for telling the truth and being fair and loving. Eunice married James Allen and together they raised seven children. Eunice and James were the house all the kids in the neighborhood went to. She welcomed all into her home for a good meal and loving association. Family outings included walking every week to the grocery store. She loved her children and “the Switch” was delivered in love. Her husband and children would tell you she was the worlds best wife and mother. Eunice’s warm smile and kind manner drew people to her. She spoke to all she met and had a loving word of encouragement to impart. She enjoyed traveling, eating out and shopping especially with her family. Her son-in-law Michael was her sidekick. He treated her like a mom, cooking her favorite dishes, taking her to doctor appointments and even shopping with and for her. Eunice was a fierce and determined woman who worked hard and set a good example for others. On August 15, 2018, Eunice V. Allen heard the Lord say, “Well done my good and faithful servant”, she closed her eyes and rested from her labors. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Addie; siblings Willie, Marcus, Amanda and Cordelia; and her loving and faithful husband James Allen. Eunice will be deeply missed by her family, but especially her children Howard, Oliver, David, Gail (Michael), Addie (Ray), James and Tyrone (Jennifer); nephews Donald (Joanne) Lee and Anthony (Ella) Lee; niece Becky; grandchildren LaKesha (Maurice), Michael Jr. (Andrea), DeAndre, Marshawn, Ray, Robert, Randy, Ashley, Quincy, Quinton, Malcolm, Tyler, Jordan, Steven and John; great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
