Frederic Stanley Douglas

Frederic Stanley Douglas was born on July 18, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Frederica Crossley and Georgia Lewis Douglas. To that union were born seven children. Frederic attended Dunbar High School (class of 1955) prior to locating to Chicago, Illinois, where he met his beloved wife, Carrie Thompson. They married on September 20, 1964. She affectionately called him "Precious" and they were together for 47 years. That 47 year union resulted in his only child, Dr. Frederica Douglas, that he constantly encouraged to make Jehovah first in her life. In addition, he was a successful restaurateur and businessman for over 25 years before selling his business to the famous Curt's bar-b-que and retiring. Frederic was known to have the best bar-b-que sauce in all of Chicago and abroad. In 1976, Freddie's interest was peaked about Jehovah God through his wife's Christian example of how God fearing women should conduct themselves. Upon his wife's prompting, Freddie accepted a Bible study from one of the local elders within the congregation. Changes in his life were evident. He dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized in 1977. In those 35 faithful years of service, Freddie became an elder in which he served until his death. In fact, he has known as the brother at the door that met everyone with a smile and loving greeting. He had a great love for life. When Frederic was not busy tending to his spiritual duties, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, fishing and making others laugh. On Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. Frederic fell asleep in death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederica and George Douglas; and an older brother, James Wendell Douglas. Frederic leaves to cherish the wonderful memories are his beloved and devoted wife of 47 years, Carrie Douglas; one daughter, Frederica Douglas; three grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor and Zaria; three sisters, Evelyn Douglas Rose, Cecile (Joseph) Douglas Pendleton and Edna (Raymond) Douglas Robinson; two brothers, William H. (Deloris) Douglas and Frank Douglas; ten sisters-in-law, Katherine Miller, Nancy Jackson, Norma Turner, Mable Anderson, Bessie Taylor, Maxine Thompson, Thelma Thompson, Bernice Thompson, DiAnn Thompson and Queen Thompson; eight brothers-in-law, LC Thompson, Edward Thompson, Joseph Anderson, Alvin Anderson, Louis Taylor, Alonzo Thompson, Robert Thompson and Eddie Thompson; and a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends.
