Georgia Mae Tharrington

Georgia Mae Tharrington was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 13, 1943 to John and Lillie Mae Hill. After the passing of her father in 1949 and her mother in 1954, Georgia, the youngest of her siblings, moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1955 with her older siblings. It was in Chicago that she continued her education at Spaulding Chicago Public School. Georgia never lived her life through the eyes of her disability. She was full of fun and laughter, always helping out where she was needed. She saw the good in people, and brought fun and laughter to everyone. She was lovingly cared for by her sister Cornelia Hill. Cornelia devoted her strength to care taking for Georgia's needs during her frequent bouts with her illness. Georgia lived with a passion for righteousness and justice. Often expressing to others that even though at one time she only knew Jesus name, she prayed for wisdom to do what was right in life and said, "One of Jehovah's Witnesses came to her door." She welcomed that invitation, accepted a Bible Study, dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized that dedication through water baptism at the District Convention in Cicero, Illinois in 1975. Her two favorite scriptures were John 3:16 and John 17:3. Georgia united in matrimony with Ernest Lee Tharrington, Sr. To this union, five beautiful children were born, Renee, Ivy, Ernest Jr., Rita and Terrence. When asked about what she would do in paradise, she answered, "I'm going to walk and walk and walk." On May 17, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. Georgia fell asleep in death. She was preceded in death by her children, Rita Gale Tharrington and Ivy Danette Clark; and siblings, James Hill, Houston Hill, John Jones Hill, Freddie Mae White and Mae Helen Hall. Georgia leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Ernest Sr.; her loving daughter, Renee (Karl Jr.) Hodges; her two loving sons, Ernest Jr. (Diana) Tharrington and Terrence (Charie) Tharrington; grandchildren, Georgiana (Tony) Henry, Danny Luke Jr., Nastassja (Terris) Sanders, Stefan Luke, Henry (LaToya) Clark Jr., Korey Clark, Ernest Lee Tharrington III, Breanna Tharrington and Talia Tharrington; great grandchildren, Aziza Henry, Anthony aka Trey Henry, Azijah Henry, Nazura Clark, Chienne Clark, Xiana Luke and Joselyn Luke; sisters, Cornelia Hill and Mattie Mae Bufford; in laws, Robert Tharrington Sr., Robert Tharrington Jr., Bea Johnson, Mary Tharrington and Beverly Tharrington; cousins, Yvonne "Candy" Lacey, Cheroll Kimbrough, Diane Davis, William Kimbrough, Odessa Barnett, Barbara Jean and Clifford White; nieces and nephews, Brenda (Leroy) Spratlen, Patricia (Nathaniel) Omoruyi, Denice Carter, Tasha Spratlen, Devonna Spratlen, Kelsey Spratlen, Marcelle Spratlen, Leroy Spratlen Jr., Iyare Omoruyi, Odaro Omoruyi, Aduwa Omoruyi, Jimmy Barnett, Melissa Barnett, Michael Carter, Christopher Carter, Sylvia Carter and April Carter; and a host of family and friends.
