Harold Carr Sr.

Harold Carr Sr. was born on October 25, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois through the marital union of Harvey Carr and Clifford Miller. He attended Burke Grammar School and later DuSable High School, both in Chicago, Illinois. Harold was a determined and strong-minded individual who enjoyed life. As a young man, Harold made his living as a pool player, and was a master at the game. He met and later married Shirley Ann Sparkman in 1957, and together they would later have a family of three children. Harold began employment with the U.S. Post Office as a Mail Clerk and continued working in various capacities during his tenure of over 45 years, receiving many commendations and certificates of excellence, which he took great pride in. Harold was affectionately nicknamed "Boom-Boom" by his grandchildren, and the name just stuck. So although he was Mr. Carr to the outside world, to his family...he was "Boom-Boom". Throughout his life he found himself disillusioned with the many questions of life including, 'Why do good people suffer while the treacherous thrive?', and 'Why is it that certain people are beset with disabilities while others are not?' After years of feeling restless over these issues, he made the decision to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses to explore the answers to these questions that God's Word provides. In these studies with his son, he would finally find satisfying answers to his heart's questions. Later on, as his health declined and he found himself making regular visits to the hospital, he would tell the nurses who took care of him about God's promises as set forth in the Holy Scriptures to end suffering and bring Paradise without end. And when depression set in, he expressed to his children how, in his quieter moments, he would call out to Jehovah God in prayer for strength and endurance. And so now, as Harold is no longer suffering, we await the fulfillment of God's promise of Paradise on earth, and end to suffering for all time, and the hope of a resurrection. Harold leaves to honor his memory a faithful wife of 54 years, Shirley Ann Carr; two daughters, Debra Ann (Greg), and Robin Renee; one son, Harold Jr. (Yolanda); one sister, Bernice; one niece, Renee; three loving grandchildren, Jason (Jeannie), Jennifer and Jessica; four precious great grandchildren, Linton Bruce III, Maya Jordan, Quest Ari and Sophia Jasmine.
