Hilda Jones

Hilda Jones was born to Mr. Phillip and Mrs. Cora Redford in New Iberia, Louisiana on September 11, 1924. Hilda met Charles Andrew Jones who proposed marriage. The two were united in holy matrimony on January 29, 1949. Their union was blessed with six daughters and one son. They were very proud parents who loved their children very much. After relocating to Chicago, Illinois, Hilda attended nursing school where she worked as a nurse at Cook County Hospital in the 1950's. Meanwhile raising her family, Sister Rosa Hudson rung the doorbell and the Bible discussion began. She for the first time saw Jehovah God's name in her own Bible. She felt so cheated that neither the Catholic school, Baptist, Methodist, and preachers of other churches where she was educated and attended never once showed her Psalm 83:18 that 'Jehovah is the Most High God.' Additionally, she learned, Jesus never said, that he was God, but that he was God's son at John 10:36, Jesus says "Do you say to me whom the Father sanctified and dispatched into the world, you blaspheme, because I said, I am God's son? Also, John 20:31 says, "But these have been written down that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, and that, because of believing, you may have life by means of his name." After having a serious Bible study program for 3 years, on November 23, 1957, Hilda symbolized her dedication to Jehovah by water baptism becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses. With this new found treasure, she shared diligently with all whom she met, the Truth from God's Word the Bible. She encouraged one and all to hold on to truth, this treasure, and never let it go for 'nobody'. She spent many years in the full time Pioneer service as she pursued in life, teaching the Bible and faithfully serving Jehovah for 56 years. Many of those years she shared with her life time friend, Delores Branch. On May 27, 2013, Sister Hilda R. Jones finished her earthly course. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Charlene Gonzalez and Geraldine Jones; and one son-in-law, Anthony Greenwood. Hilda leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Phillip V. Jones (Brenda) of TN; four daughters, Katherine Davenport (Bob), Maxine Perry (Carl), Betty Taylor (Alvin) and Jo Ann Greenwood; grandchildren, KiViette, Phillip Jr., Charles, Horner, Sinetra, Marcus (Angela), Jacob, Denise, Torah, Stacey (Jasmine), Jovan, Apryl, Michael (Keisha), David, Matthew, Melanie (Shaffer) and Eboni Stevenson; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosa Mae Elmore and Lorena Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
