Ms. Jeanette H. Williams

Jeanette Williams was born on July 26, 1948 in Mendenhall, Mississippi to Woodrow and Lee Vernice Lofton. She graduated from Harper High School in 1966. She always talked about how much she enjoyed high school and being a cheerleader and she never missed her class reunions. Jeanette was an adventuresome person which led her to move to New York City after graduation with her grandmother Julia Skiffer and aunts Mary, Earnestine and Della. They all worked at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, located in Long Beach, New York. During that time Jeanette connected with Jehovah's Witnesses and started a study of the Bible. She loved what she was learning and made her dedication to Jehovah and was baptized in 1969. She had so many outstanding memories of her experiences in the truth such as attending the historic 1958 "Divine Will" convention in New York as well as attending several international conventions in California, New Orleans, Louisiana and most recently Manila, Philippines (2019). Jeanette had four siblings Lou Boudrou “Bo” Lofton who preceded her in death, Lautritia “Pat” Moorehand, Ricky Lofton and Stanley Lofton. She had such fond memories with her siblings. As teens, she and “Bo” always entered dance contests and won every time. Jeanette was a very self-sacrificing person and mother. She loved her four children Rikki, Patrick, Faith and Fenecia very dearly. She would do anything for her children and was so proud of each of them and although she had four children to care for, somehow she gave each one their own special attention making them feel like the "only child". Jeanette had a passion for traveling, she went on countless cruises with the family. She also had the opportunity to travel to Greece, Egypt and Turkey with her Sister Lautritia stating that it was the most memorable trip she had taken. She loved concerts and music which she exposed her children to so they could develop a well-rounded love for all types of music. Sundays would be her day to play her "dusties" and listen to Herb Kent while dancing to her favorite songs. Eventually her children began to look forward to those "dusties" and Sunday dinner with mom each week. Her love of music fueled her son Patrick’s love of music and they enjoyed many trips to the local record stores in Hyde Park. Jeanette loved people and will be remembered for her warm personality, beautiful brown eyes and golden smile. Everyone that met her was drawn to her and called her "mom" or "moms". She will also be remembered for her big heart and generosity. She would help anyone even strangers. We would ask her, “Why are you helping that person?" She would always say, ”Because you never know what situation you might be in and need help.” Jeanette tremendously loved her four grandchildren Sydnei, Christion, Karter and Brees. They were her pride and joy! She had the joy of seeing her oldest grandchild Sydnei graduate from college with her bachelor's in Nursing. She cherished the moment of recently being able to hold her last grandchild Brees. Jeanette retired in 2015 from being a home healthcare provider and took up the full-time ministry in 2018. She had the privilege of attending pioneer school in 2019 with her daughter Fenecia. It was a joy she often talked about. She will be missed beyond words. Jeanette is also survived by her beloved mother Lee Vernice Lofton; nieces Stephanie, Kalette, Kiarra, Khiya, Kamri; nephews Frederick and Khiry along with a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
