Joe Bullock Sr.

Joe Bullock was born in Midnight, Mississippi on June 22, 1938. He was the eighth child born to Robert “Bob” and Florence Bullock (Adams). Joe received his education at HCT School in Louise, MS. He came to Chicago, Illinois in 1955. He worked for Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) where he drove the bus and retired after 25 years of service in 1999. On July 3, 1957, he married Verta R. Bullock. To this union, seven children were born Joanne, Marilyn, Joe Jr., Michelle, Michael, Steven and Kent. Joe dedicated his life to Jehovah and symbolized his dedication through water baptism in June 1961. He became a full time pioneer in 2000. He served as an Elder and a Ministerial Servant for a number of years in various congregations in the Chicagoland area and in Greenville, MS. Joe had a great sense of humor. Some of his favorite phrases, “I’m in charge”, “I’m the boss of this house” and “Greeeeeet day“. Joe loved family gatherings. On July 24, 2018, Joe fell asleep in death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Florence; his siblings Robert Bullock Jr., Cleveland Bullock, Johnnie Bullock (Larrhee), Davis Bullock, Earl Bullock (Blanch), Arvell Bullock, Annie Mae Reed and Maurice Daniels. Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Verta; his seven children Joanne Daniels (Todd) of Laredo, TX, Marilyn Bingham (Michael) of Chicago, IL, Joe Bullock Jr. (Angela) of Hazel Crest, IL, Michelle Bullock of Bolingbrook, IL, Michael Bullock of Calumet Park, IL, Steven Bullock (Lisa) of Dolton, IL and Kent Bullock of Gary, IN; 14 grandchildren Maurice Daniels, Cherie Daniels, Andre Daniels, L’ore’al E. Gardner (Jamel), Synnaman Bingham (fiance’ Jayson), Joe “Jay” Bullock (Pam), Tatiana Mims (Edgar), Miquel Morris (Jermaine), DaMario Bullock, Michael Bullock Jr., Mychele Bullock, Steven Bullock Jr. (Nikira), Brandi Griffin (Kyle) and Karmello Walker-Bullock; 16 great grandchildren; three siblings Tim Bullock (Barbara), Florence Patterson (Samuel) and Betty Lou Lipsey (Johnnie); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
