Kenneth Crawford

Kenneth Crawford, son of James Ira and Modena Crawford, was born September 25, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the youngest of 13 children. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. Kenneth received his education at Dunbar High School on the southside of Chicago. After attending high school, he met Rosetta while working at a certified food store. He worked at Zenith Corporation and the railroad. Many called him “Crawford” or “Kenny”, began working at for Chicago Housing Authority. He retired from Chicago housing after 28 years of service. They pursued of family and on January 22, 1966, 54 years, they were united in Holy Matrimony. They became dedicated nurturing parents of five children. They lateral became foster parents of two children. They fostered many children and families over many years. He touched many individuals for his openness to everyone and generosity. He loved to joke and act witty, especially with his grandchildren. Kenny joined True Spirit International under the leadership of Pastors Jason and Fran Johnson. He loved his church members and his pastors. He was a dedicated member until his health did not allow him to attend the church building. However the church, True Spirit International, came to visit him at home. Kenneth gained his wings on November 9, 2020, while in the home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Phillip, Raymond, George, David, Clifford, Ira, and James; four sisters Dorothy, Daisy, Ursula, and Annette; and two grandsons James Jr. and “Lil” Floyd. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted and loving wife, Rosetta; one sister Joan Crawford; five children Rochelle, Brenda, Sonya, Kenneth Jr. (Leslie), and Shanna; two foster children Lafayette and Ayeisha; three sons-in-law Matthew, James, and Elijah Sr.; 22 grandchildren Leo, Keith, Terrance (Gabby), Shameka, Merci, Rosetta (Dranel), Keisha (Anthony), Dennis, Shanise, Joy (Rafeek), Brianna, Floyd, Elijah Jr., Candice, Ashima, Juanita, Kenneth II, Raquel, India, Ashley, Asia, and Javonna; 39 great grandchildren Leo Jr., Aaliyah, Jada, Jhaniha, Desiree, Darrion, Taliyah, Tyler, Jamya, Taylor, Terrance Jr., Asia, Ellen, King, Jamir, Messiah, Miracle, Maliyah, Josiah, Rasha, Morgan, Ryder, Miranda, Irvin Jr., D’Andre, Victoria, Michael, Mi’Air, Amyra, Kenneth III, Kayla, Kamille, Kavion, Kena, Jace, Rashell, Keniayrah, Timothy, and Shona; one brother-in-law Edward; two sisters-in-law Sherry and Christine; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. One special friend and caretaker Barney Smoot (BJ).
