Lillian L. Sydnor

Lillian Louise Sydnor was born September 12, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Moses and Lillie Bell Chipley. She was the 10th of 12 children. On December 3, 1949, Lillian married her childhood sweetheart, James Sydnor, Sr. To this union were born 7 children. As their marriage continued, she and James saw the need for spiritual guidance in their lives and began to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. On October 1, 1954, Lillian dedicated her life by water baptism to Jehovah. In 1964, Lillian began serving as a full-time evangelizer, which she served on and off for 45 years. Lillian and James goals were to teach and train their children about Jehovah as they would accompany them in the ministry and through the way they lived their lives. Lillian’s love transcended beyond their home and commonly extended to others. She taught her grandchildren to be determined, do their best, stay spiritually focused, be submissive, a good listener, and to always have a sense of humor. In all of that, she taught them to finish what they started. Lillian always displayed genuine concern for younger sisters in the congregation and opened her arms to a host of children serving as a spiritual role model. Lillian can be fondly remembered for humming Kingdom songs, always saying, “Let Jehovah be your front and rear guard and the angels above”. She was known to never allow people to leave her apartment without a hug and kiss, and her waving out the window until you made it to your car safely. She was full of love, had zeal for Jehovah, and aided many in the truth. On Friday, February 1, 2019, Lillian fell asleep in death. She was preceded in death by one son: Michael; her husband of 59 years, James Sydnor, Sr.; her parents: Moses and Lillie Chipley; four sisters: Mary, Gladys, Doris, and Clara; five brothers: Johnny, Lewis, Moses, Eugene, and Alvino. Lillian is survived by her children: James Sydnor, Jr. (Glenda), Gloria Williams (Elijah, Jr.), Steve Sydnor, Sr. (Joyce), Rebecca Brown, Kenneth Sydnor (Violet), and John Sydnor, Sr. (Connie); one sister: June Weber; one brother: Sherman Chipley; 30 grandchildren; over 70 great and great-great grandchildren; with a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
