Lucille Brimage

Lucille Brimage was born to the union of Osie and Fannie Lou Ross on July 25, 1919. Lucille as an only child and was preceded in death by her parents. Lucille united in marriage to Walter Peterson, and from this union two children were born; Barbara Louise and Ricardo. Lucille mourned the loss of Walter in death in 1966. In 1973, she married Tony Brimage who preceded her in death. Born and raised in Chicago, Lucille worked in the Stockyards as a young woman, later becoming an "unofficial" but skilled hairdresser. Her home was always filled with neighborhood children who loved and admired her. It was said that she would always have "goodies" for them. More importantly they just loved the way Lucille "treated" them. Anyone who came to Mrs. Peterson's home was loved and well-cared for. Mama, Grandma, Granny and Nannie were some of the names she was affectionately known by. Lucille loved her family and her many children. Recently Lucille traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota by bus to ensure her presence at her only granddaughter, Cynthia's, 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration. Lucille was respected and loved by all who came in contact with her because of her gentle spirit and lovely smile. Lucille's first contact with Jehovah's Witnesses was in 1973. After having come to an accurate knowledge and appreciation of God's Word the Bible, Lucille symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God in 1974. Becasue of her deep love and desire to help others become acquainted with a real hope in Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ, Lucille became a full-time Kingdom Proclaimer. On May 1, 1981, she was appointed a regular pioneer, volunteering over 90 hours of her time per month. Her favorite saying was, "There is no one like my God, Jehovah". Lucille expressed her zeal for the ministry by spending countless hours preaching and teaching others to appreciate the benefits of serving Our Creator, Jehovah. In spite of her failing health in her later years, Lucille was still determined to fulfill her vow of full-time service to Jehovah. At age 93, and when her health permitted, Lucille was known for witnessing alongside her daughter, Barbara at local malls. When hospitalized with Congestive Heart Failure, she continued to show her love for God by talking to all that would lend a listening ear. She was determined to be faithful to her God Jehovah right to the very end. (1 Timothy 4:10) "For to this end we are working hard and exerting ourselves, because we have rested our hope on a living God, who is a Savior of all sorts of men, especially of faithful ones." Lucille fell asleep in death at home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. She leaves her cherished children, Barbara Louise Williams and Ricardo Peterson (wife, Delores); grandchildren, Maurice Lewis, Cynthia Darlene Kennedy (husband, Dennis I), Leon Lewis, Phillip Lewis, Remon Peterson, and Ricardo Walter Peterson; fifteen great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren. Lucille also leaves to cherish a host of relatives, friends and loved one too numerous to mention.
