Paul Levon London Sr.

Paul Levon London Sr. was born on February 10, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois in the holy matrimonial union of Zula and Fred London Sr. He was the 5th child of 10 brothers and sisters: Fred, Marion, Delouis, Juanita, Diane, Donnie, Priscilla, Rudy, and Sandra. Paul Sr. was born and raised in a home centered around Christ our Lord and Savior. Paul Sr. attended Corpus Christi School and Dunbar High School in Chicago, Illinois. Paul Sr.'s first job was as a paperboy in the Cermack Area, he also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul helping the homeless. He was a member of the St. Jude League Chicago Police Branch in 1967. He worked for the Western Electric Company (Hawthorne) in 1957. He was Psychiatric Aide in Tinley Park, IL in 1959. He worked for the Secretary of State, Hackett Fire, and the City of Chicago Streets and Sanitation as a Laborer for about 30 years from where he retired. In his early years, he was also a professional pool player. Paul Sr. joined Audrey Moorman in marriage on December 24, 1952, in a Church of God in Christ. Paul was a loving and dedicated father of eight children. Paul Sr. leaves to cherish his memory, his eight children: Paul London Jr., Rita London, Michael London, Phillip London, Raphael London, Maria London, Claudia London, and Roxanne London; fifteen grandchildren: Christopher, Melanie, Daniel, Emily, Claudia, Levon, Alex, Kelly, Justin, Felicia, Kailyn, Cameron, Desere, Xavier, and Bailey; five great grandchildren: Meaya, Yolanda, Alyssa, Alex, and Dillon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and the Winston Avenue friends. Paul London Sr. was a very honest, strong, helpful, generous, street smart and forward man. He was a dedicated husband and father. He loved and missed his wife, our mother Audrey, he never stopped saying her name. He loved playing his piano and listening to his Blues and Jazz music. He also made sure that his Winston Avenue family is secured by sitting on his porch policing the block. He would tell you like it is and his words would always touch your heart. A dedicated father that took care of all of his children. He loved all of his grandchildren and made sure that they were all taken good care of. Paul will be truly missed by his family and friends.
