Ralph J. Stovall

Ralph J. Stovall was born August 29, 1946 in Tyler Town, Mississippi to the union of Carrie Mae and Ellis Stovall. While Ralph was still a young man, the family moved to Chicago, Illinois. He received his formal education in the Chicago Public School System. A man of few words but great presence, Ralph was the kind of brother you wished you had. He had a meek and humble personality, which warmed people to him and made everyone he met call him neighbor. He also had a natural talent for music. In the 1970's, he was part of the singing group The Montego's along with his brother Wesley. Ralph met and later married Laurell Brown. Their union was a three fold cord not easily broken. They were the parents of eight children, each of which he loved and cherished. He was a great husband and father who was the head of his household. Ralph always enjoyed a good meal, especially his mom Carrie's banana pudding. He was a man's man who worked hard to provide for his family. He was employed in the Steel industry for over 20 years. His love of God led him to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. After a careful consideration of the scriptures, Ralph dedicated his life to Jehovah and symbolized his dedication through water baptism. His love of Jehovah was evidenced by the way he conducted himself and he won his wife over to Jehovah through his conduct. Ralph was never absent from the meeting or in field service when his health allowed. On November 26, 2013, Ralph J. Stovall fell asleep in death. His family looks forward to the fulfillment of Isaiah 41:8, when no resident will say I am sick. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis and one brother, David. Ralph will be dearly missed by all, but especially his loving wife, Laurell; his mother Carrie; eight children, Regail, April (Bennie), Ralph Jr. (Amanda), Lavonna (Wautese), Samuel, James (Latanya), Bonita (Aubrey) and Ruthie; two sisters, Joyce (Hank) and Marla; one brother, Wesley (Willa); four nieces, Kimberly, Tabrina, Jessica and Valerie; three nephews, Anthony, Terence and Gregory; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
