Robert Wright

Robert Wright was born June 15, 1936 to Guy and Earthie Lee Wright. He was the second of fifteen children. He was affectionately known to family and friends as “Cat”, “Uncle Cat”, and “Poppa”. Robert was educated in the Forrest City School District. In 1960, he married his sweetheart, Earthine Stewart. To this union seven children were born. They later relocated to Chicago, Illinois. In 1990, after 30 years together, Earthine fell asleep in death. Robert worked at Northwestern Hospital for three years. He retired from National Casting Steel Company after 36 years of service. He worked hard to provide for the family he loved. He was a truly loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. From a young boy he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. Some of the pleasures he enjoyed were: talking about his family, good food, traveling down south, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Everyone enjoyed listening to his stories, especially the ones about fishing. He was a great storyteller. On January 6, 1991, Robert dedicated his life to Jehovah God. He loved sharing Bible truths with his neighbors, relatives, healthcare providers and his beloved homemaker, Keisha. He especially enjoyed attending Christian Meetings with his spiritual family, when his health allowed him. He loved listening to the original songs on JW Broadcasting. On Sunday, August 25, 2019, Robert fell asleep in death. He was preceded in death by: his mother and father, Guy and Earthie Lee Wright; his wife, Earthine; two daughters, Edith Smith and Vera Dabney; son-in-law, Anthony Slaughter; his brothers, John, Guy, Albert, Fenner, Earnest, Rolfe, and Marvin Wright. Robert leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: five sisters: Mary Taggart, Etter Willis, Estella Taggart, Betty (Lawrence) Fleming, all of Forrest City, Arkansas, and Vera Mae Carter of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers: Willie (Hattie) Wright, Paul (Emma) Wright, and Randolph Wright, all of Forrest City, Arkansas; children: Robin Slaughter, Dexter (Marie) Wright, Ralph (LaShon) Wright, Wilfred (Jocelyne) Wright, Gilbert (Janice) Wright, Juanita (Paul) Sanders, and Robby Smith; 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one aunt Aletha Allen of Benton, Arkansas, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
