Mrs. Tamara Shena Mitchell

Tamara Shena Mitchell was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 2, 1984. She was the first of Yvette and Johnny Polk’s three children. Tamara was academically gifted, she was a member of the National Honor Society since the 7th grade. Tamara earned a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Chicago State University and worked for one of biggest tax firms in Chicago, Deloitte. She was very proud of her work as an Accountant and would often help her family and friends with their taxes. Tamara attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. On May 5, 1996, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized her dedication through water baptism. She found joy in participating on the Regional Building Committee in the Accounting Department, helping to build Kingdom Halls in the Chicago area. She put Jehovah first in all matters of her life. On August 31, 2005, she married Marlon Mitchell, and from this loving union two children were born Jayden and Joshua. Tamara’s many family and friends knew two key things about her. Her love for cooking and her love for her two boys. She would spend hours trying to find the perfect recipe and many times had her boys act as sous-chefs teaching them her culinary skill. Marlon would be the designated quality control specialist for the food. On March 27, 2021, Tamara fell asleep in death after a long battle with Sickle Cell Anemia. She found joy in Revelation 21:3,4 where we have the promise that pain will be a thing of the past. She was preceded in death by her brother Andre. Tamara leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband Marlon, her two sons Jayden and Joshua. Her father Johnny, mother Yvette, and brother David. Her nephew Mason, niece Madison. Her grandmothers Betty Jefferson & Thressie Polk, her grandfather Johnny Sr., her in-laws Zane, Renee, Marleena (Chris), and Michelle; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
