Walter Lawrence Jr.

Walter Lawrence Jr. was born in Berwyn, Illinois to Ollie Mae Daniels and Walter Lawrence Sr. Walter graduated from Lindblom Technical High School in 1970 and furthered his education at Olive Harvey College, Dawson Skill Center and ITT Technical Institute. Over the years, Walter worked at the following companies; General Motors, AT&T and Clorox, holding positions as an Automotive Field Technician, Telecommunications Field Technician and retiring at APL Logistics as a Lead Forklift Operator on August 3rd 2015. Walter united in holy matrimony to Linda Sargent and they had 45 years together. He was a strong willed man who believed in education and preparing his children to be independent in this world. He rewarded his children and grandchildren for their academic and personal achievements, and made every wedding and graduation as possible. He loved his family and kept pictures up at work and at home of his children and grandchildren in which all had a special nickname. He was not shy in telling his work colleagues about how proud he was of his family. Walter loved classic cars, even winning a few car contests, watching movies, R&B and Jazz music and enjoying a good meal. He also had a good singing voice and would sometimes sing his favorite songs around the house. He was a stern man but had a good sense of humor. If anyone knew Walter, knew he loved his aviator glasses. On September 23rd 2015, Walter fell asleep in death peacefully. He was preceded in death by his mother Ollie Mae, father Walter Lawrence Sr. and his brother Tyrone. Walter leaves to cherish his memories, his loyal and loving wife: Linda Lawrence; three children: Toriano Delano Lawrence (Dawn), Shauntell Lynn Lawrence-Beoh (Anthony) and Lisa Lynn Lawrence-Harris (Marvin); five grandchildren: Candyss, Calynn, Camrynn, Romere and Marvin Jr.; five siblings: Marva, Jane (Chamus), Phyllis, Joe (Dee) and Juwana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and countless friends. Walter will truly be missed. We look forward to the fulfillment of Revelation 21: 3, 4 - With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
