Mr. Andre Jemison Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Andre Darnell Jemison, a computer programmer and developer with RR Donnelly Corporation, of Merrillville, IN, left his earthly body unexpectedly on May 2, 2022, at the age of 53. Andre is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Debra Skaggs; children, Paul (partner Audrey), Phillip (wife India), and Rebecca Hall; his only sibling, older sister, Makeba Kedem-DuBose (husbands, Carlton Stewart, and Aaron Carlson); his sister’s children, Iyahna DuBose-Stewart, and Baby DuBose-Carlson; grandchildren, Aiden, Ashton and Anderson Hall, Gabrielle Hall, and Steven, Nick, Adriana, and Lilliann. He is also survived by his maternal aunts Gertrude Warren and Lucille Suggs; 1st maternal cousins, Michelle Pitts-Onochie (husband Michael Onochie), Ronald Warren (partner Sharon), Larry Jackson (wife Virgil), Natalie McMahon (husband Jermaine); 2nd maternal cousins, Emeka, Azuka, Amina, and Chika Onochie, Chastity and Charmaine Benamon, and Ernest Walton; 3rd cousin, London; his step-father’s sister Velma, and dear friends SJ, Jeff, Carl, and Reggie. He is predeceased by his mother, Veronica DuBose-Luther; his stepfather, Elmer Luther; maternal grandmother Lucille DuBose; his maternal aunt, Mary DuBose-Pitts. Andre was born on the near westside of Chicago on March 19, 1969, to Veronica (nee DuBose) and Thomas Jemison. He attended Southern University, Baton Rouge, St. Ignatius High School, Holy Family Elementary School and was a member of Holy Family church where he served as an altar boy. In 1997, he began the startup internet company Jafe, located in the south suburbs of Chicago, with partners Jeff, Francine, and Edward. The company was successfully sold, after operating for 5 years. At the time of his passing, he was a highly valued computer programmer and developer for R. R. Donnelly Corporation. He met his loving partner Debra Skaggs through their mutual friend Jeff in 1992, and from day one built a relationship that lasted 30 years. He helped raise Debra’s 3 beautiful children whom he loved, raised, and claimed as his own, along with their lovely children, his grandchildren (who knew him as "Papis"), until the day he left this plain of existence. Andre was a stern, hardworking family man with a big heart. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often manning the grill and smoker wherever he went. He was also an amateur DJ who occasionally spun records at friend’s events when he wasn’t owning the grill. He was a complex and brilliant man, a problem solver who never shied away from a difficult task, which he often successfully found solutions to. Andre was a smiling man who loved his God, mama, family and close friends. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. May God and the Ancestors receive him with Love and open arms!
