Anna Eliza Howard was born July 16, 1938, to Marie Mitchell and Frank Davis, in Starkville, Mississippi. She was the only child of Marie Mitchell. She came to Chicago at the age of 12, and attended the Chicago Public grade schools and Farragut High School. Anna confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior earlier in life and she was baptized. In December 1955, she married Willie L. Howard and she was the proud mother of 5 children, Velma, Ramona, Serena, Will Jr. and Eric. Anna was a homemaker, she worked at Wyler’s Food and later in life she obtained her CNA certificate where she worked in the healthcare field with focus on hospice care. Anna always felt you should work for yourself, and she always sought ways to start her own business. She served on the board of the Midwest Association of Housing Cooperatives and as a board member at large for ASH Street Cooperatives. She loved the community she lived in, and it brought her great pleasure to service on these Boards. Her main goal was to always find help for the seniors of her community. She also loved to travel and pass out ice cream! Anna’s greatest1 love on earth was her family. Five generations of love was one thing that made her so happy. She may have called you “favorite” but in truth all of you were her favorite! Anna was a faithful lover of the Word of God. If you came to her home, you would also know Our Heavenly Father. She loved to read John 15. One of her main goals in life was to instill the Word of God in her children and their children. She prayed daily for her love ones, friends, community and this world.
