    Annie P. Holcomb

    December 21, 1939 - November 20, 2020

Annie P. (A. P.) was born December 21, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to the proud parents of Samuel David Phillips and Naomi Phillips. Annie graduated from Hyde Park High School. In 1958, Annie married Larry Simms Sr. They had three children Anna Maria, Cheryl Ann, and Larry Simms Jr. The marriage did not last and so they divorced. Annie studied the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in the middle 60s, she dedicated her life and was baptized in 1968. Annie was a loyal servant of Jehovah, auxiliary pioneering many times over the years until her illness, dementia, took it’s toll on her. Annie worked at the Main United States Post Office for about 12 years; then for Dr. Doug Peterson and his wife. Finally she worked over 30 years for American School as a File Clerk and Assistant in the Advertisement Department. She retired from American School in 2011. Annie became friends with Sammy Holcomb Jr. in 1972. In 1974, Sammy asked Ann to marry him. She happily said, Yes! They got married October 11, 1975; one of the happiest days of Sammy and Annie’s life. Sammy loved Annie so much that he demonstrated his love for her three children. On Friday, November 20, 2020, Annie fell asleep in death and awaits the resurrection promised at John 5:28, 29. Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Dorothy and Cecillia; her brothers David Phillips, Robert Phillips, Melvin Phillips, and Leonard Phillips; her children Larry Simms Jr., Cheryl Ann Simms, and Anna Maria Dameron; and her grandson Jonah Simms. Annie we all miss you and look to the future when we will be together again in paradise. Annie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband and partner in life for 45+ years, Sammy; brother Jonathan Phillips; her cousins Francine Magett, Tony Magett, Kevin Magett, Charlie Jones, Susie, Joey, Daphne, and Cortez, and a host of other cousins; her nephews Turtel Onli, John Phillips, Jerome Phillips, Melvin L. Phillips, Marcus Phillips, Isaiah Phillips, Johnny Phillips, and a host of others; her nieces Lisa, Rachel, Erica, and Aisha Phillips; her grandchildren Cortez Dameron Jr., Natalya, Sameca Dawn Harvey, and Tekea Hayes; great-grandchildren Cortez Dameron III, Jermel E. Dameron, Naomi Dameron, Mya Simms, Darius Sardin, Kayla Harvey, Mya Harvey, and Noah Harvey.
