Mrs. Barbara Jean Furdge Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Friday, June 17, 2022, the beloved spirit of Barbara Jean Furdge peacefully slipped away from this world into that of eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Barbara was born on January 25, 1942, to the union of Sarah and Harold (Pie) Overall in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in East Chicago Heights, IL with her siblings Preston, Harvey, Clara and Georgia who preceded her in death. Barbara married Robert L. Moore Sr. in 1958. Out of that union five children were born: Robert, Harold, Brunetta, Purcell (preceded her in death) and Darnell. Robert L. Moore Sr. passed away on December 13, 1972. After some years, she met Steven Furdge and they were married on March 28, 1978. Barbara was educated in East Chicago Heights at Cottage Grove Elementary School and Bloom High school. Barbara lived her best life caring for others. This was shown as she cared for children as a Teacher’s Assistant; patients at St. James Hospital as a Nurse’s Assistant and Caregiver of residents at Elisabeth Ludeman Center from which she retired. Barbara loved serving the Lord at Christ For Everyone Ministries as a Nurses Aid and on the Mother’s Board. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Steven Furdge; three sons, Robert L. Moore Jr. (Rosemary), Harold Moore (Connie), Darnell Moore; one daughter Brunetta Moore. She lived to see four generations of grandsons: Keith (preceded her in death), Tamaris, Marcus, Anthony, Evan, Jordyn and Malyk. Granddaughters: Nakia (Daryl) Craig, Sonay and Johnetta. Great grandchildren Kiante, Kian (preceded her in death), Cameron, Kennedy, Kayla, Renecia, Eboni, Tamaris Isaiah, Madison, and Erin; Great-great-grandson: Kamari and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends whom she loved dearly.
