Charlene Betts was born on April 21, 1959, in Helena, Arkansas, to John Edward Betts and Asilee Betts. She was the fourth of ten children. She attended Jean Baptiste Point DuSable High School and graduated in 1978. Charlene began her career path in 1980 at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County (formerly Cook County Hospital) where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide. Charlene loved her work of caring for others and continued to do so for more than 30 years until the day she retired. Charlene spent her spare time watching old Western movies and home renovation programs. She was also an avid collector of unique and rare antiques and enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with loved ones. Charlene dedicated her life to Jehovah by getting baptized on June 29, 2013, and faithfully served for 9 years at the Windsor Park Congregation in Chicago, IL. She participated in all forms of the field ministry; she especially enjoyed letter writing. Charlene loved her spiritual family and friends and was a firm believer in the resurrection hope. Charlene is preceded in death by her father John Edward Betts, mother Asilee Betts, brothers Rominosky and Aurgintrus Betts and sister Ola Shelby. Charlene was a loving sister and aunt. She leaves to cherish her memory, five sisters Asilee Mitchell, Lula Salley, Ruth Reed, Verna Betts, and Carolia Betts; one brother Marcus Betts; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
