Charles Ella Pegues Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Charles Ella Pegues was born May 3, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Gertrude Pinkney, she was the second child of eight to bless their union. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was raised in the Chicago area where she received her formal education. Her love of people led her to pursue a career in the health care field. Charles Ella received her certificate as a CNA, a field she proudly worked in until she retired. In 1992, she married Lindsey Pegues. In their union they had two children, Alexzandria and Branden. Their union was further blessed with the adoption of three of Charles Ella's cousins, Daniel, Miles and Malcolm Norris-Pegues. Expanding their family further they welcomed step son, Lindsey Pegues Jr. Her love of her children and family was evident in the way she cared for each one of them. To know her was to love her. If you were lucky enough to really get to know Charles Ella you were truly blessed. Her kindness, love of family and friends, generous nature and optimistic look on life meant she never met a stranger. She enjoyed cooking, going out to eat, singing and listening to her music. But nothing gave her more joy than going to thrift stores, garage sales, and shopping with her family. An afternoon spent with her children, sisters, nieces, great nieces and nephews was her favorite pastime. Family time was her favorite time no matter the activity because Charles Ella truly loved her family. On July 27, 2017, at the age of 63, Charles Ella Pegues heard her Lord and Savior call her name, she closed her eyes and took her rest. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, daughter, Alexzandria; two sisters, Brenda Pinkney and Regina Pinkney; and one brother, Leroy Pinkney. Charles Ella leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Brandon, Daniel, Miles and Malcolm; step son, Lindsey; ten sisters, Darlene Carter, Cynthia Byrd, Tonya (John) Prince, Gertrude Taylor, Beverly Hughs, Wanda, Valerie, Yolanda, Vonnette Pinkney and Fannie (Walter) Dillard; three brothers, Marvin (Deborah) Pinkney, Brian Smith and Curtis Smith; one step brother, Willie Smith; a very special and loving niece, Priscilla Williams; two very special friends, Eddie Cooley and Mary Brown.
