Connie Allen

Connie "Al" Allen was born on October 31, 1947 in Brunswick, Georgia. He was the eldest of four children born to Clorinda Kittles. During his childhood Connie moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he was raised by his grandparents, Edward and Gertrude Kittles, until their passing. During high school, Connie moved from Jacksonville, Florida to Chicago, Illinois, to be with his aunt, Hiawatha Kittles. In his youth, Connie enjoyed playing softball with the Death Wish team where he was a player and coach, and was instrumental in the team winning the Washington Park Softball Championship. In 1968, Connie met Geraldine Faulkner, and together they had one daughter, Clorinda Faulkner. In 1974, he met Rosalie Porchers, and on August 28, 2005, they were married. To this union one son, Xavier H. Allen was born. Connie began working for the United States Postal Service in 1962. He was known for creating an exciting and peaceful working environment, while ensuring his team met all required milestones for the day. He took great pleasure in his work, and retired in 2005 after 42 years of dedicated service. Mr. Allen’s favorite pastimes included spending time with his loving wife dancing and throwing darts, and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. He took extreme delight in visiting his daughter for holiday dinners and traveling to West Virginia in the summers to spend time with his son and five grandchildren. The highlight was him grilling for the family at the Annual Allen Family cookout and beating his son, Master Allen, in pool. On Sunday, March 15, 2015, Connie traded his earthly body for his heavenly reward while resting at his home. Connie "Al" Allen leaves to honor his legacy, his devoted wife, Rosalie Porchers-Allen; children, Clorinda Faulkner-Pride (Edward) and Xavier Allen (Toia); mother, Clorinda Kittles; nine beautiful grandchildren whom he loved very much, Kenyada Faulkner, Shankequa Pride, Kai ‘la Pride, Xavier Allen Jr., Jayden Allen, Edward Pride III, Jordan, Tyler, and Leah Allen; one great-grandchild, Kyan Pound; siblings, Lajuana, Cassandra (Matt) and Herbert (Danielle) Isaac; special cousins, Thaddeus, Acosta, Martin and Cornelius Kittles; and a host of other family, friends and dear loved ones.
