Dolores McClinton

August 9, 1929 - December 7, 2020

Dolores McClinton, affectionately known to the family as “Lil Suwa, Lois, Momma and Grandma,” was born on August 9, 1929 in Boligee, Alabama. She was the fourth of sixteen children to the union of the late Johnny and Susie (Campbell) Knott. Dolores graduated from Green County Training School and later relocated at the age of 20 to Chicago, IL. She eventually started working at Swift Packing House where she met the love of her life, the deceased Br. William McClinton. After they married, Dolores began working for the University of Illinois Medical Center from where she retired at the age of 62. To family and friends, she always considered herself a comedian, a counselor, a psychologist and a financier. She had a knack for supervising her loved ones and anyone else that solicited her for help. In reality, you just did what she told you to do. She was a woman of wise words, a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was known as a caring loyal friend, but most of all a truly humble person all to the glory of Jehovah. Dolores began to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and symbolized her dedication by water baptism on December 3, 1994. Dolores served Jehovah faithfully up to the time of her passing. She leaves to cherish her memories: three children Jacqueline (Walter) Alexander, Vernita Farmer and Robin (Curtis) Baxter; three sisters: Cornelia Cobb, Louise Tatum and Eula (Donald) Howard; two brothers: Johnny (Sallie) Knott and Roosevelt (Lily) Knott; four grandchildren: Patricia Maxey aka Diane, Walter Alexander aka Tony (Tanya), Michelle Alexander-Ware aka Shellie (Demerius) and Grant Alexander Sr. (Qiana); seven great grandchildren: Ebony (Charles), Ashley, Alissa (Derrick), Adria, Grant Jr., Qiara, Jalon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
