October 18, 1953 - April 26, 2021
Ella Mae Chandler-Bryant, daughter of Ola Mae (Williams) Chandler and Frank Chandler, was born on October 18, 1953 in Joliet, Illinois. She was the third eldest of nine siblings. Ella Mae received her formal education in the Joliet School system in which she attended Gomper’s Junior High. In her teen years, Ella Mae’s family moved to Chicago Heights, IL and she transferred from Joliet Central High School to Bloom Township High School. It was at Bloom Township she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Clifford Bryant Jr. Their display of love for one another was solidified by holy matrimony on February 15, 1972, in Chicago, IL. Ella Mae continued to fulfill her aspirations of being a nurse by means of her qualities of care and love for others. She worked as a Mental Health Technician at Elizabeth Ludeman Health Center in Park Forest, IL. In the “Heights”, she was often known as “Momma Mae” for her kindhearted concern, for being a good cook, and singing and dancing to Motown hits by some of her favorite singers Evelyn Champagne King, Luther Vandross and many others. Always expressing in good-natured conversation with a smile, you would find Ella Mae pairing it with her stylish outfits and matching hats in every color. Despite some health complications, you would find her and Clifford cracking jokes and checking up on her family. On April 27, 2021, Ella Mae sadly fell asleep in death and her memory will continue to remain in all of our hearts. She was preceded in death by her brothers Tommy Chandler and Henry Chandler; her sister Shirley Jean Chandler; her mother Ola Mae Williams-Chandler; her father Frank Chandler; and her grandmother Jennie Mae Harper. Ella Mae leaves her memory to be cherished by, her husband Clifford Bryant Jr.; her siblings Frank Lee Chandler, David Earl Jones (Unsuk Hong), Denise Chandler, Marlene Dean-Chandler, and Thelma Marie Jones; her real good friend Pamela; her sisters and brothers, her mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends too numerous to mention.
