December 21, 1954 - March 5, 2021
Eva Mae Hopson-Wilson was born to Jesse and Sarah Hopson on December 21, 1954. She lived on the westside of Chicago and came of age on the southside. Eva attended John C. Haines Grammar School and went to Wendell Phillips High School. As a young girl Eva and her family of three siblings, Joseph, Jerome and Deborah lived in the Henry Horner Homes. The family later moved to the Hilliard Homes where she later met and married James Wilson. Eva and James were married on November 12, 1993. There were no children born from this union. Throughout her life Eva loved her music (dusties), dancing and cooking, especially trying new recipes. She too loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and friends. One especially close friend was her spiritual sister, Rita Howell-Gil. Their interactions with each other made it seem like they were biological sisters. Eva was very much a ‘people person’. What Eva loved most was her God, Jehovah. She dedicated her life to him symbolizing that dedication by water baptism on August 7, 2016. She experienced the joy of seeing two of her girls, Renee and Luciana, dedicate their lives to Jehovah and get baptized. It was her desire that all of her children follow this same path that she chose. Eva fell asleep in death on March 5, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband James, father Jesse and brother Jerome. She leaves to cherish her memory her dear mom, Sarah along with her brother Joseph (Mary) and sister Deborah, her three beloved daughters, Yolanda, Crystal (Willie) and Luciana, seven grandchildren Johnequea, Robert Jr., Allen, A’maree , A’miyah, Cheyenne and A’melah, three great grandchildren Kennedi, A’lleah and Robert III and a host of nieces and other family and friends.
