    Gencie Gray

    January 3, 1937 - January 1, 2021

Gencie Lee Gray was born on January 3, 1937, from the beautiful union of Ross and Annie Bell Dean. She was the second eldest girl to bless that union. Gencie, aka Gent, received her formal education in both Mound Bayou, Mississippi and Chicago, Illinois. Gent married Mr. Huey Gray in 1952, that union was blessed with 9 children: Ross, Jacqueline, Gloria Fay, Vivian, Huey Jr., Belinda, Kenneth (Anita), Derrick (Felisha), and Dwayne. Gencie’s love of God and people led her to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. After making the truth her own, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized that dedication through water baptism on May 23, 1998. She was a faithful servant of Jehovah who enjoyed the ministry and was active in her congregation until her health began to fail her. Gencie set a fine example of hard work for her children. She worked in the hotel industry where she was well respected and held in high esteem. She had a warm smile and charismatic personality, which helped her to develop life long relationships. She loved to travel and spent many vacations in Arizona and Louisiana. On January 1, 2021, Gencie Lee Gray fell asleep in death. She was preceded in death by her parents Ross and Annie Bell Dean; her husband Huey Gray; children Ross and Huey Jr.; siblings Leon Bell, Ethel Mae Mosley, Jessie, Oscar, and Odell Mosley; and grandchildren Nathaniel D Gray and Latoria Gray Lindsey. Gencie leaves to cherish her memory, her children Jacqueline, Gloria Fay, Vivian, Belinda, Kenneth (Anita), Derrick (Felisha) and Dwayne; siblings Ella Mae Kent, Vivian Branch, and Gloria Mosley; one stepson Ray Palmer; 25 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Lenore, Mary, and Daisey; and Godchildren Margaret Brown, Alvin Holland and Deanna Phelps.
