May 18, 1939 - July 21, 2021
Juanita Collins was born on May 18, 1939, in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She was the second child of this loving union which produced 13 children. Although not the first born, she took on the role as the oldest helping to keep her younger siblings in line. After graduating from Alexander High School, she left Brookhaven with her sister to try life in Chicago, Illinois. Not long after her arrival, she met a man, fell in love, got married, and they had two beautiful children. Years later, she added to her family another treasured son. In addition to her wonderful family life, she landed her dream job in the Composing Room of the Southtown Economist Newspaper where she worked until her retirement. A knock at the door led her to begin studying the Bible and getting baptized one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 7, 1979. From that day forward, she was a zealous proclaimer of the good news of Jehovah Witnesses and preached to all she met. After her retirement, she began her service as a regular pioneer, one who preaches in the full-time ministry, on September 1, 2001. She continued serving in this capacity until she fell asleep in death on July 21, 2021. Juanita was a jovial person, always uplifting other, a great conversationalist and a great listener. There was never a dull moment with her. She had a love for singing and had no problem lifting up her voice loudly to sing the Kingdom songs. Her two favorite songs were “God’s Loyal Love” and “We Are Jehovah’s Witnesses”. Juanita spearheaded a love of the Truth in her family with her daughter, niece, and two sisters also making a dedication to Jehovah.
