Mr. Justin Hood Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Justin Ellis Hood was born July 25, 1978 to Marshall and Darlene Hood. He was the second of four boys (Marshall, Marcus, and Christopher). Justin was the first baby born at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Illinois. This news was published in the local newspaper. On June 3, 1995, Justin dedicated his life Jehovah with the Jehovah’s Witness organization. He believed in the promise of resurrection and would often offer encouragement in the name of Jehovah. Justin attended grade school in the Prairie Hills school district and went on to graduate from Hillcrest High School in 1996. While in high school, he played on the basketball team and was a formidable opponent due to him being left-handed. Justin was always looking to inspire and lead others which he did through the Senior Leader program in high school. After high school, Justin received a certification in broadcasting from Illinois Center for Broadcasting that he used to host a radio show and, later in life, a podcast. Through one of his positions at a law firm, he found that he had a love for golfing. Justin could often be found on various golf courses across the Chicagoland area. He and a group of friends called themselves the “Gentz” and would go on annual golf trips. In addition to a love of sports, Justin also loved history. He was known as a philosopher as he would always be researching history and sharing his knowledge with anyone. Through his never-ending love for learning, Justin also found a niche in antiquing. He was always inviting his friends and family to go with him to antique and estate sales. He had an eye for unique and rare items that he would display in his home. Being an uncle was a great joy for Justin. He was always checking in with his nieces and nephews. Any time he could offer advice or encouragement, he made sure to do so. They all knew that they could call Uncle Justin at any time. Even if they knew the advice given was a hard pill to swallow, they knew Justin loved them enough to push them in the right direction. One of Justin’s greatest personal achievements was becoming a father. He valued and adored his children, Janelle (who proceeded him in death), Jalen and Janiya, with all of his heart. He enjoyed showing his love for antiquing and video games with both of his children. He was very involved in their education by providing any help and guidance they may have needed. If Jalen and Janiya expressed an interest in any sport or activity, Justin was sure to support them in any way he could. He wanted his children to flourish and explore life to find their passions. A caring son, a great brother, a devoted father, a loving uncle, and an irreplaceable friend, Justin will be greatly missed.
