    Katie Amos

    June 3, 2020

Katie Mae Amos, sunset was June 3, 2020 at her residence. Katie was born in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the third oldest of five children. A daughter of the late Sadie and Sylvester Porter, Katie later moved to Chicago, Illinois where she attended John Fiske school and she graduated from Hyde Park High School, where she later met Robert Tubbs, and they had four children Stephanie, Regina, Rodney, and Richard Tubbs. After that union ended she met the love of her life, Merrill Wal Amos Sr., where they had and raised one son Merrill Wal Amos Jr. and three grandchildren Kitisha, LaDonna, and Freeman Tubbs. Katie worked for the State of Illinois for over 30 years, where she later retired. Katie recognized what was missing in life, which was a relationship with our creator and life-giver Jehovah. She would often tell others about the hope of Jehovah‘s purpose for everlasting life in paradise. She will forever be remembered for her generosity, Sunday meals, and providing for her family. Katie was preceded in death by her husband Merrill and her great grandson Daron. Katie leaves to cherish her memories, mother-in-law Josephine Warren; siblings Henry (Lavinia) Porter, James Porter and Armetine Knott, Clarence (Darlene) Amos, Flora (Nick) Amos, Kim (Gerard) Davis, Oscar (Tracy) Warren, Sandra Smith, and Lisa Warren; five children Stephanie, Regina, Rodney, Richard (Sherita), and Merrill; along with a host of 19 grandkids, 21 great grandkids, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
