Lewis Thomas Ford
May 25, 1946 - December 13, 2020
Lewis Thomas Ford Sr. was born May 25, 1946, the third of six children during the union of Corareena Alex Ford in Chicago, Illinois. Lewis fell asleep in death on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 74. Lewis was affectionately known to many as “Pops”. At home, he was simply called the “Cookie Monster”. He was an exceptional artist and enjoyed drawing in his spare time. Lewis retired from the Chicago Housing Authority as a Maintenance Engineer. Throughout his life, Lewis searched for the answers to questions as: “Why are we here?”, “Does God really care about us?” He found the answers when he began to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Lewis later worked closely with his best friend, St. Magee, his Bible teacher, as his right hand man. Lewis and St. truly enjoyed each other’s company. Lewis dedicated his life to Jehovah and symbolized his dedication through water baptism on July 24, 2010, at the “Remain Close to Jehovah!” District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in DeKalb, Illinois. Lewis met Mildred Davis in his local congregation where they fell in love and were married on October 4, 2014. Lewis and Mildred were grateful to have found each other and Mildred said, “Our time together was just too short!”. In addition to his wife, Mildred, Lewis is survived by his son Lewis Jr., and sisters Catheereene and Linda. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents: Corareena and Alex Ford; his son Robert; his two brothers: Robert and Roy; and his sister Jeanette. Lewis leaves to cherish his memories, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
