We want to “thank” you for all of the kind words, sentiments, prayers, and gestures that have been extended to us during this difficult time” Sincerely…..The Scott Family Martha was born to Pearlie Mae Sparkman and Edward Green. She grew up on the south side of Chicago and graduated from Lucy Flower (now Al Raby) High School. Martha studied Cosmetology, graduated from Debbie’s School of Hair, then took up nursing in college. She was a Surgical Nurse at Evanston Hospital for many years. In 1957, Martha married Onley Scott in Miami, FL. When she began to start/raise her family, she deferred to her license in Cosmetology in order to be at home for her family while doing hair at home. Martha studied the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in the 60s, and soon got baptized. She was a loyal servant and was a full-time pioneer for many years. Martha spent most of her life helping others. Her positive nature and demeanor was infectious. She would help most anyone she could. After having a great deal of success on the Weight Watchers program; Martha began to work for Weight Watchers and conducted many classes all over the Chicagoland area. She ended each class with the infamous affirmation “I Can, I Will, I Must; Get to My Goal and Stay There!” To keep her health intact, on any given morning, you could find Martha running down Lake Shore Drive exercising. Many joined her in this effort over the years. On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Martha fell asleep in death. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and several in-laws, her brothers Milton and Clinton. Martha leaves to cherish her memory her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of close friends that she had come to know and love in Jehovah’s organization. We all await the promise of John 5:28, 29 so that we may see and share time with her again.
