Matthew Jones Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

In the beginning God created the heaven and earth. On April 24,1955, Matthew Jones Jr. was born in Chicago Illinois to Matthew Jones Sr. and Mary Margaret Jones. He was the fourth oldest of seven children. Matthew was united in holy matrimony to Rochelle Johnson in December 1989. To this union three lovely children were born in addition to two of Rochelle sons. Matthew accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Third Baptist Church Of Chicago until he was too ill to attend. Matthew attended Fenger High School and worked at St. Agnes Nursing Home as a Maintenance man and Manager of Big Mel Laundromat, he later entered the security field where he retired. Matthew loved his family and would do anything for them. He loved to bowl and play dominoes with this nephews and friends. He loved to play his Jazz and listen to Isaac Hayes. He was a father figure to all the males on his block. They knew who to go to for advice. Matthew was called home Friday morning Christmas Day, December 25th, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father Matthew Jones Sr., mother Mary Margaret Jones and brother Charles “Chuck” Jones. Matthew leaves to cherish his loving memory: Rochelle, his wife; one son, Terrance (Gabby); two daughters, Shameka and Merci; two step sons, Leo and Keith; four sisters, Beverly Johnson (Jerrold), Gladys L. Jones, Linda F. Williams (Brady), and Barbara Buford (John, J.B); one brother, Reginald (Spuck) Jones; one aunt Gladys Jones; mother-in-law, Rosetta Crawford; four sisters-in-law, Brenda, Sonya, Shanna, and Francis; one brother-in-law, Kenneth; grandchildren, Leo Jr., Aaliyah, Jada, Jhaniha, Desiree, Darrion, Taliyah, Tyler, Jamya, Taylor, Terrance Jr., Asia; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and a best friend Ronnie Collins.
