Ms. Verles A. Odom Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Verles Odom was born on October 6, 1967 to the proud parents of Leon and Dorothy Odom in Chicago, Illinois. She was one of four children, with two sisters and one brother. Verles was educated through the Chicago Public School system and attended Stephen A. Douglas Elementary School graduating in 1981 and went on to attend Senn High School graduating in 1985. During her youth, Verles would baby sit for family and friends. As she got older, she was a jovial person with a good sense of humor. She was a jokester who loved to laugh and could keep you laughing at the same time. She was always the life of the party and loved to have a good time. She was also known for not only keeping her hair done, but she also loved to do others hair too. Verles and her mother Dorothy had an incredibly special way they communicated, no matter where she was or what was going on, Verles made sure she sent a letter home to her mother. In turn, her mother would write her back always sharing a scriptural message. On May 3, 2021, Verles fell asleep in death. Verles leaves to cherish her loving memories, her mother Dorothy Jean Odom-Flomo (James K. Flomo); her father Leon Odom; six children Shardae Martin (Reggie Martin), Abrielle Calahan, Arvell Calahan, Antonio Odom-Calahan, Takara Odom, and Tamia Odom; two sisters Verlita A. Odom and Reshunda C. Odom; one brother Jamie M. Odom; four aunts Darlene Odom, Bernice Sconers, Charlene Heard, and Dorothy Jean Fisher; uncle William C. Reese “Red” (Hazel); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
