Darlene Frye

The sun shined vibrantly on the parents of Darlene Frye the day she was born, June 2, 1954. She was a blessing like no other to her mother, Elizabeth Smith. Though born into a small family, having one older brother Ernest, Darlene extended her arms around many that she would later embrace as her family. Darlene attended and graduated from Kenwood High School in 1972. She was later employed by Tenex Corporation as a supervising operating inspector with a 15 year tenure. Darlene learned about Jehovah and his attributes and instilled these values and kingdom principles in her children and others. She lived a full and joyous life, with love and laughter everywhere she went. Darlene was a dedicated and devoted daughter to her mother never leaving her side. Many would call them best friends as they were often seen together at the Kingdom Hall, in the neighborhood, shopping, dining out with family or on vacation. As a mother, Darlene was understanding and loving, fun to be around, and truly a blessing to her children. She created a happy and healthy home where her children were proud to live and grow. She had a genuine care about the neighborhood and all of the children in it. Often times she would gather her children and others to clean up the litter from the streets on the block. She welcomed all people and all people welcomed her. Though small in size, Darlene had a big heart and an even bigger spirit. As a grandmother, she was attentive and youthful, fun and adventurous with all the sweets of a candy store to offer. Darlene had the gift of lighting up a room with her presence. She will be fondly remembered for her love, honesty, heartfelt meals, kindness and commitment to helping others. The sun set on Darlene's life on June 18, 2012 and she will never be forgotten, she was an angel on earth. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth; her brother, Ernest; two adopted daughters (nieces), Cherise and Destiny D. Redeaux; and two grandchildren, Jerimiah and Destiny. Darlene leaves to cherish her memories, three wonderful sons, Anthony, Derrick "Petey" (Lakeisha) and Shannon Frye; five grandchildren, Shannon Jr., Jalen, Daquann, Madisen and Kayla; cousins, Rita Austin (Cornell), Bobby Williams (Connie) and Thomas Williams (Pat); a very special friend, Betty Branch; and a host of loved ones and close friends.
